Punjab captain and former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batsman Mandeep Singh mentioned that as soon as he joined the Bangalore-based franchise he realised that Virat Kohli’s starvation to preserve scoring runs makes him totally different from others.

India batsman and Punjab captain Mandeep Singh might need returned to his state-based IPL franchise Kings XI Punjab however reminiscences of his days at Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) remains to be recent in his thoughts.
The 28-year-old batsman admitted that he had a ‘phenomenal’ expertise at RCB in the presence of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers, the backbones of the franchise.
Mandeep moved to RCB in 2015 and stayed there until 2018. During this time Mandeep’s mother wanted to see a Kohli-like fire in his son’s eyes, a fire to preserve scoring run everytime he was on the crease.
“My mother, even though she does not watch or follow too much cricket wanted to see the fire in Virat Kohli’s eyes in my eyes as well. Every match he scored runs, but he still wanted to score more. He didn’t stop. He never liked getting out, I learned a lot from that season,” Mandeep recalled.
Mandeep Singh, who has represented India in three T20Is, mentioned that he was additionally impressed by his former captain Virat Kohli’s work ethics. Virat’s depth was what impressed Mandeep probably the most.
“The experience at RCB was phenomenal. I feel I am a hard-working guy but the first time I saw Virat Kohli, I realised I had to increase my intensity. He would not stay long hours in the gym, but at the end of every session, you could see that he had given it his all,” Mandeep told Sportskeeda.
Virat Kohli is believed to have brought the fitness culture in the team which was absent for decades. From Yo-Yo tests to controlled and balanced diets recommended by nutritionist, Indian cricketers follow it all these days. The same fitness has been accredited to the batting success of Virat Kohli.
Virat himself has admitted that he started feeling different from the day he listened to his body. Mandeep Singh is the first hand witness of it.
“He (Virat Kohli) has the fire to rating so much of runs. I realised from Virat that you don’t want to hit solely sixes, there’s much more than that. He’s constant solely as a result of of his health. It’s his starvation to rating runs. AB informed me to study that starvation from him and never solely his approach,” Mandeep Singh acknowledged.
