Xiaomi is planning to launch a new ecommerce service in India to help boost sales during the lockdown

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi Corp stated on Monday. As a result, it can launch an e-commerce service in India this week to allow prospects caught at dwelling throughout a nationwide lockdown to purchase its merchandise from their native retailer. The new service, Mi Commerce, will permit customers to browse online merchandise obtainable at a retailer near their dwelling and place orders, Muralikrishnan B, the chief working officer of Xiaomi India, stated. Then, the associate retailer can finish the delivery.
The service can be rolled out everywhere in India, and Xiaomi will proceed with it after the lockdown ends, whether it is profitable.

Xiaomi is the largest smartphone firm in India by shipments with a market share of 30 %, forward of South Korea’s Samsung Electronics Ltd, in line with Hong Kong-based tech researcher Counterpoint.

However, like its rivals, Xiaomi’s gross sales have succeeded throughout the lockdown to include the coronavirus. Stores in India are closed, and online gross sales have dropped as e-commerce websites equivalent to Amazon and Walmart’s Flipkart suspended gross sales of cell phones to concentrate on deliveries of home items.

India is Xiaomi’s largest market outdoors China.
The countrywide lockdown began on March 25 and has been extended until May 17, with minor exceptions.

“We are (providing) business continuity in the offline commerce, especially in the backdrop that consumers would be hesitant to visit offline stores due to worries about safety, sanitation, and virus spread,” Muralikrishnan told media via webcast.

Xiaomi can even assist present working capital loans to its companions by its credit score providing, the corporate’s India head Manu Jain stated.
